Your Journey to Alun Alun

Whether you are travelling from Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, or nearby towns, getting to the island is straightforward. The journey is supported by convenient road access and scheduled speedboat transfers coordinated by the resort.

The resort sits just a short speedboat ride from Mersing Jetty, placing you close to vibrant marine life, calm lagoons, and some of Johor’s most untouched island scenery. From this point, you are well-situated to unwind, explore, and take in the natural beauty along Malaysia’s east coast.

 

Travel distances:

  • Mersing Jetty – 20–30 minutes by speedboat

  • Mersing Town Centre – 5 minutes from the jetty

  • Mersing Bus Terminal – 3 minutes from the jetty

  • Johor Bahru City / Senai Airport – 2 to 2.5 hours to the jetty

  • Singapore – 3 to 3.5 hours to the jetty

Arriving by Car

Suggested Route from Kuala Lumpur (Approx. 4 to 5 hours)
Drive via the North–South Expressway (PLUS) and exit at Yong Peng. Continue the journey toward Kluang, pass through Jemaluang, and proceed to Mersing. Upon reaching Mersing town, follow the directional signs to Mersing Jetty. Public parking is available at designated areas near the jetty.

Suggested Route from Johor Bahru (Approx. 2 to 2.5 hours)
Travel along Route 3 heading toward Kota Tinggi, then continue north in the direction of Mersing. Clear signage along the route will guide you directly to Mersing Jetty.

 

Suggested Route from Singapore (Approx. 3 to 3.5 hours to the jetty)
After clearing immigration at Woodlands or Tuas, drive toward Johor Bahru and continue along Route 3 via Kota Tinggi before heading onward to Mersing. Follow local signs upon arrival to reach Mersing Jetty smoothly.

Arriving by Flight

The nearest airports to Pulau Besar are:

  • Senai International Airport (JHB) – about 1 hour 45 minutes to Mersing Jetty

  • Changi Airport Singapore (SIN) – about 3 hours to Mersing Jetty, including the land border crossing

  • Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) – about 5 hours by road to Mersing Jetty

Transport Options from the Airport:

  • Airport taxi

  • Ride-hailing services such as Grab (where available)

  • Private transfers arranged upon request

  • Car rentals

Arriving By Bus

Daily long-distance buses run from Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Malacca, and Singapore to Mersing Bus Terminal.

From the terminal, the jetty is just a short 3-minute taxi ride or a brief walk away. The resort can arrange your speedboat transfer to Pulau Besar in advance for a smooth arrival.

Some of the most popular routes include Kuala Lumpur to Mersing, Johor Bahru to Mersing, and Singapore to Mersing.

Arriving by Boat Transfer

There is no public ferry to Pulau Besar. All guests travel by pre-arranged speedboat from Mersing Jetty.

 

Speedboat Details:

  • Duration: 20–30 minutes

  • Schedule: Departs according to tide and weather conditions

  • Boarding Point: Mersing Jetty (Jeti Penumpang Mersing)

  • Advance booking required

 

Upon arrival at Pulau Besar, staff will greet you at the beach and assist with check-in.

Arriving via Singapore Ferry Routes (Optional)

Travellers from Singapore can also take ferries to Johor, including routes to Desaru or Tanjung Pengelih/Pengerang.

From these ports, it is a straightforward drive by road to Mersing Jetty.
